SorOPtimist, an organization for women, is offering a chance to win the Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award.
Eligible applicants are young women who are currently between the ages of 14 to 17, who demonstrate initiative in both identifying a problem and solving it and having significant accomplishments as volunteers.
Applicants must fill out an application and write an essay. There is a monetary award available at the local level from the Soroptimist International of Snyder, Union & Northumberland Counties. That application will then be submitted regionally. All Regional winners are then submitted to the Federation level for judging and possible additional awards.
Applicants will be contacted if they are selected as a possible winner and they and their parent(s) will be invited to attend the club’s January dinner meeting where they will be asked about the volunteer work they are involved in.
