Shamokin Area Community Hospital Charity Auction

On February 26th, 2009, Mount Carmel Area was the site of the Shamokin Area Community Hospital Auction. With 43 items in the silent auction and 77 for the televised auction, the event brought in over $45,000 dollars, surpassed the previous auction totals. One of the biggest draws was a 2009 Harley Davidson Sportster 883 Low donated by Vreeland’s Harley Davidson in Bloomsburg. Kicking off the night in grand style were presentations made by area schools.  The MCA Elementary Student Council donated $500 to the cause, and the high school Interact club brought in over $1300 through the recent hoagie sale. Kim Chaundy, one of the auction coordinators,  stated, “I was really surprised by the turnout which was much larger than last year.”
